Environmental Impact Assessment
Noise
Wind turbines generate noise that can be heard, dependent on wind speed and direction, several hundred metres away. However care is taken to the design a wind farm that does not cause noise nuisance.
To protect all residents, background noise measurements are undertaken at the immediate neighbours to a proposed wind farm. The wind farm is then modeled and assessed to make sure that all properties are protected from increases in noise that cause a nuisance. The locations of the background noise monitoring and the methodology are agreed with the Environmental Health Department at East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
We invite all members of the local community to visit a wind farm to see and hear an operational wind farm for themselves and can assist with any arrangements.
