Methodology of Montages

The selection of these viewpoints where chosen in order to establish a broad sample throughout the area and at different distances from the Proposal site as recommended by Scottish Natural Heritage as the best practice guidance. Viewpoint locations included residential areas (ranging from small villages close to the site to the outskirts of larger towns), roads carrying national, regional or local traffic, railways, long distance footpaths and cycle ways and specific viewpoints, such as from major sites or visitor attractions. This initial selection was submitted to the East Riding Yorkshire Council who amended and approved it. This forms the basis for the visual assessment contained within the ES.

The visual impact assessment is based on the results of field surveys undertaken between February 2006 and August 2006. The photographs used as a basis for photomontages were taken with a 35mm digital SLR tripod mounted camera with the equivalent of a 50mm lens setting.
